The Rams and 49ers will meet in the regular-season finale with both teams already headed to the playoffs.
San Francisco clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a 27-10 victory over the Commanders and the Eagles' 35-31 loss to the Cardinals.
The 49ers also won the NFC West two weeks ago and were the first team in the league to clinch a playoff berth.
It's the first time since 2019 that the 49ers are the NFC's top seed. San Francisco has lost in the NFC Championship game in each of the past two years.
A first-round bye will be key for the 49ers because it will give some key players a much-needed rest. Running back Christian McCaffrey, who leads the NFL with 1,459 yards rushing, suffered a calf injury against Washington.
San Francisco was also withoutdefensive tackle Arik Armstead (foot, knee), safety Ji’Ayir Brown (knee), tight end Ross Dwelley (ankle), wide receiver Jauan Jennings (concussion) and offensive tackle Jaylon Moore (concussion).
Brock Purdy bounced back from a poor performance against the Ravens where he threw four interceptions. Purdy was 22 of 28 for 230 yards with two touchdowns against the Commanders. Purdy has thrown for 4,289 yards on the season, breaking Jeff Garcia’s season franchise record of 4,278 set in 2000.
The Rams clinched a playoff spot with their 26-25 win over the Giants and a loss by the Seahawks to the Steelers.
Los Angeles opened the season at 3-6 before their Week 10 bye. However, the Rams battled themselves back into the playoff race by winning six of their past seven contests. Their only loss was in overtime to the AFC's No. 1 seed Ravens on the road.
Los Angeles' 6-1 record since Week 11 is tied for the second best in the NFL in that span. The Rams are averaging 29.3 points since Week 11, third most in the NFL over that stretch.
