Check out Weebly for your business at no cost to you Visit Weebly

Weebly offers three pricing plans, starting at $6 per month and reaching as high as $26 per month. Weebly also offers a great free plan, which can get your online presence started without any cost to you.

Weebly is a solid option when it comes to website builders for those who are making their first foray into website building, as well as businesses on a budget who are looking for an affordable website builder that imparts excellent value for money. Although it’s not quite as easy-to-use nor feature-rich as competitors like Wix and Squarespace – and is generally a clunkier website builder – it has great SEO guidance and the free plan really is one of the best you can get.

Below, we’re going to explain exactly how much this quality website builder will cost your business, as well as some of the perks of the Weebly platform, and some alternatives if you feel it’s not a good fit.

Weebly Pricing Plan Breakdown

As we mentioned, Weebly offers three different pricing plans: Personal, Professional, and Performance. Each one comes with more features than the last, with a correspondingly higher price.

The Weebly Personal Plan

The best choice for smaller businesses with limited visitors

$6 per month billed annually, $9 per month billed monthly

If you’re just starting off with a website and you need those added business features, Weebly’s Personal plan is a great place to start. At only $6 per month, it’s one of the more affordable website builder paid plans on the market.

With this plan, you get virtually all the ecommerce features found in higher tier plans, like inventory management, shopping carts, shipping and tax calculators, among others. Plus, you can connect a custom domain, which is a great way to get noticed on Google.

It is missing a few key features though. You don’t get a free domain, you don’t get unlimited storage, and you miss out on some of the more advanced site stats that can help you make smart decisions moving forward with your site. Still, if you’re a small business with limited visitors, Weebly’s value is pretty good given the decidedly low price.

The Weebly Professional Plan

Best for growing businesses that need more storage

$12 per month billed annually, $16 per month billed monthly

This plan is where the real value of Weebly can be experienced. At $12 per month, the Professional plan is still quite affordable. It’s cheaper than Wix’s first paid plan (Combo), which only allows for 3GB of storage (Weebly’s professional plan is unlimited, on the other hand), and will cost you the same as Squarespace’s Personal plan – part of the reason Weebly scored full marks (5/5) for value for money when Tech.co put the best website builders to the test.

The Professional plan unlocks a whole bunch of other features not found in the Personal plan. For one, you get a free domain, which is always a nice perk. Additionally, you’ll get the aforementioned unlimited storage for your site, which never hurts when you plan on scaling up down the line.

You’ll also get advanced site stats – which aren’t available for Squarespace users on the provider’s similarly-priced ‘Personal plan’ – allowing you to ramp up your reporting and analytics capabilities and inform your actions further down the line in terms of optimizing your site. This plan also comes with password protection and phone support.

The only thing you’re missing out on with this plan, rather than the more expensive Performance plan, is a lack of advanced ecommerce features. Still though, if you aren’t running an ecommerce business, or if you think your ecommerce can easily be handled by the core ecommerce features available, this plan just makes sense.

Plus, both Wix and Squarespace have severely limited e-commerce options in their plans that hover around a similar price point – Squarespace, for example, doesn’t include any ecommerce features on its Personal plan, which is the same price as The Weebly Professional plan.

The Weebly Performance Plan

Ideal for larger businesses that need advanced ecommerce features

$26 per month billed annually, $29 per month billed monthly

If you’re an ecommerce business that needs a website to handle your many transactions, you’re going to want to invest in the Performance plan from Weebly. This robust option comes with a whole bunch of advanced ecommerce features that will take your store to the next level.

In addition to the core ecommerce features available in other plans, the Performance plan offers PayPal payments, item reviews, shipping labels, and abandoned cart follow-up emails. Plus, with advanced ecommerce insights, you’ll know exactly who is buying what and from where. You’ll also get priority support, so you can solve any problems in a flash.

To be honest though, if you aren’t expecting to sell a lot of products, this plan might be a bit out of your price range. The advanced ecommerce features are great, but they come at more than double the cost of the previous plan, so make sure to take stock of your ecommerce expectations before committing to this plan.

Does Weebly have a free plan?

Yes, Weebly does have a free plan, and it’s actually pretty solid. It comes with a few ecommerce features, including unlimited items, shopping carts, in-store pickup, and inventory management, and you’ve got a free SSL certificate, so you know your site will be secure.

As you can imagine though, the plan is quite limited in a lot of ways. No custom domain, no digital goods in your ecommerce store, no shipping functionality, and no pop-up notifications to market your customers even more. Plus, with virtually no support options, you’re kind of on your own as far as your website setup is concerned.

Still, as far as free plans go, Weebly offers a pretty good option. The flexible templates make it easy to feel out how you want your site to look over time, and all Weebly pages, even the free plan ones, are hosted for free, so you don’t have to pay extra for a good web hosting provider.

Weebly Alternatives

We’ll be the first to admit that Weebly isn’t perfect, but what website builder is? If you just aren’t convinced that Weebly isn’t a good fit for your business, no harm done. There are plenty of other options out there to choose from when it comes to building a website, and we’ve done the research for you to make the right choice.

Weebly vs Wix

OK, so we do like Weebly, but the reality is that Wix is just unmatched when it comes to building a website. The templates are beautiful, the interface is intuitive, and the general functionality from reporting to ecommerce is just top-notch.

The bottom line is, if you’re looking for a website builder that will afford you the creative freedom to really make your site or online store your own, then you’ll get a lot more out of Wix than you will Weebly.

From a pricing standpoint, both Wix and Weebly are great value for money; Wix is definitely on the pricey side, but you get more useful features than pretty much any other website builder out there. Weebly, on the other hand, is a lot more limited, but also a lot cheaper – in fact, it scored 5/5 for value for money during our rigorous product testing. With both of them, you get what you pay for.

All things considered, thanks to a bevy of marketing features at your disposal and one of the best support teams in website building, the extra money is definitely worth it when it comes to Wix. But if you’re managing a business that’s working on a tight budget, however, and you don’t have hundreds of dollars to invest in website building software, Weebly is more than capable of getting you off the ground with its cost-effective packages.

Weebly vs Squarespace

Squarespace is another website builder that we rank just slightly above Weebly, as its ecommerce features are extremely robust, even at lower price plans, which gives Weebly a run for its money.

Squarespace may start at a higher price, but its mid-tier plan (the Commerce plan) is the same price as Weebly’s robust ecommerce plan (the Performance plan), and adds a wide range of features that can really supercharge your online store.

Although Weebly may afford users some really useful SEO guidance – which is always helpful when you’re trying to climb up the Google rankings – Squarespace really is the marketing hero of the Website building world thanks to a wide range of analytics tools and unmatched email and social media support.

Squarespace also leads the way when it comes to providing guides and a knowledge base for users – a far wider range is available than on sites like Weebly – which means it’s able to pack in more features without the risk of being too intimidating for newbies.

However, Weebly secured full marks for value for money when we tested a collection of website builders, has a free plan (Squarespace doesn’t), and is also a lot cheaper than Squarespace. It’s simpler and not as creatively freeing as Squarespace – or Wix for that matter – but for such a cheap price, it’s ideal for businesses venturing into the website building world for the first time that just want to get up and running without breaking the bank.

If you do opt for Squarespace though, due to the lack of free trial, you’ll only have the 14-day free trial to test out the platform before making a financial commitment.

Verdict: Is Weebly worth it?

Weebly is definitely a solid choice when it comes to website builders, and is certainly good value for money, but isn’t nearly as useful as its competitors. Its customization can feel clunky, it’s slower than sites like Wix and Squarespace, and the theme design lags behind its rivals too.

Weebly offers decent functionality at a decidedly reasonable price, giving users some flexibility along the way – meaning it’s an excellent option for smaller businesses working on a tight budget. You get what you pay for with Weebly, and that’s a very decent amount of bang for not too much buck.

If you’re looking to get started with Weebly right now, or want to try out Wix or Squarespace instead, follow these links to start taking your online presence a bit more seriously.
