VALUE FOR MONEY
Our aim is to provide value for your money. We are able to do this, we hope, because:-
1. Almost all of our bookings are made directly with us and because of this we have not included agents commission when setting our rates.
2. We purchased this, our family property, more than 24 years ago when land prices were much lower.
3. Over time we hope to eliminate expenses that do nothing to "add value" to to your experience but rather spend money on continuing to develop our beachfront retreat as a place which will bring relaxation, enjoyment and leave nothing but happy memories.
4. Adrift In Golden Bay is run almost entirely by members of our extended family (or "whanau" as it is known in Maori) who all aim to bring you the very best in personal service and most importantly, we enjoy what we do!
Our reasonable rack rates (compared to similar standard accommodation) and our low-season discount (more than 50%) led to a recent article published in the travel section of The Guardian Newspaper, a large British newspaper, this travel article lists us as one of the Top 10 affordable pads in New Zealand.
QUALITY
Our aim in building Adrift In Golden Bay was to have the best self-contained accommodation facilities in the Tasman/ Nelson region. We have just been awarded 5 stars by Qualmark, New Zealand's official quality assurance organisation. A five star rating means-"Exceptional - amongst the best in New Zealand"Our past guests have rated us highly amongst all the Nelson Hotels on the TripAdvisor Forum- the world's largest travel forum and the many comments in the guest books in each unit confirms this. We are proud to be recommended as "one of the author's favourites" by the latest (2008) edition of the famous guidebook "Rough Guides to New Zealand".
We are also the only Golden Bay accommodation to feature in The Greenwood Guide of hand-picked accommodation in New Zealand.
STUDIO
The cost of our studio for two people varies between NZ$126 and NZ$280 per night depending on the time of year and length of stay. COTTAGES
The cottages cost between NZ$234 and NZ$490 per night depending on the season, length of stay and which cottage. For an instant quote on a cottage stay, click the following link to go to our Tariff calculatorThe rate quoted includes use of the laundry, kayaks, your own gas barbecue and a hamper of provisions for either a continental or a cooked breakfast.The cottages are designed as a luxury accommodation for two but can accommodate an extra person sleeping on a comfortable pull-out couch settee in the living room. The cost for the extra guest is NZ$50/night, this includes extra food in the breakfast hamper.
SEASONAL DISCOUNTS AND LONGER STAY DISCOUNTS
Between 1st October and 30th April a discount of 10% is given on stays of 7 days or longer.
Between 1st May and 15th September. Stay with us 4 nights or longer and you will get a discount of 10% on our already low off-season rate (approximately 50% discount on our rack rates).
Our booking system will calculate room rates automatically allowing for these discounts.

BOOKING RESTRICTIONS
Some dates have a minimum stay of 2 nights except for "last minute" bookings when we will always accept 1 night bookings. In our peak summer season 15th December to 15th March some dates have a minimum stay of 3 or 4 nights. Shorter stays may be slightly more expensive to allow for the extra cleaning cost involved. Please e-mail us by clicking here or even better, "send us an enquiry" from the link on the booking page, if you wish to stay for one night and cannot make a booking (we respond to ALL e-mails usually within 12 hours). Our aim is to provide you with a tranquil and relaxed environment. We therefore only accept children 12 years of age and over, the cost is the same as an adult guest.
We do not allow dogs or other pets in any of accommodation. Good kennel facilities are available in Golden Bay for those travelling with pets that wish to stay.Christmas Day- We don't have check-in, check out or servicing of the cottages on Christmas Day. We are a family run business and as such like to spend time together on Christmas Day (our one day off in the middle of our busy season). Please also note that travelling in New Zealand on Christmas Day is more difficult; almost all cafes and even most supermarkets and petrol stations are closed on Christmas Day!
NOTES ON PRICES
Prices are in New Zealand dollars. We reserve the right to increase or decrease future prices from those originally posted but the price charged will always be the one given at the time of your booking.
Prices include New Zealand Goods and Services Tax (GST).Tipping is not common practice in New Zealand, "Thank you" is all that is expected even for exceptional service. |
